Karachi: Pakistani woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui has become a global icon for the human rights, and now a fire brigade service named after her is saving lives in war-torn Syria. A release of Aafia Movement Pakistan here Tuesday said a NGO of South Africa has promised 100 ambulances for this Syrian project for humanitarian cause and few have already been delivered. Last day they were stopped at the Turkish border but later allowed to enter Syria and take part in saving lives. To express solidarity with Dr Aafia Siddiqui the NGO has written the name of Aafia on their fire tenders. This gesture of solidarity with Aafia is yet another proof of widening global support for the cause of Pakistani mother. The volunteers of Global Aafia Movement are playing their role against injustice and tyranny in different parts of the world. They raise strong voice for the human rights, as well as, rights of women and prisoners and separated families. At present, Global Aafia Movement has volunteers in more than 30 countries including South Africa, Zambia, Turkey, UK, USA and France. The volunteers of Aafia Movement are just not limited to the cause of Aafia but also raise strong voice against all sorts of cruelties, discriminations and violations of the human rights in any part of the country. They have already raised voice for the cause of US army soldier BradleyEdward Manning and civil liberties lawyer Lynne Stewart. [ed notes;i just hope the ''unnamed'' south african ngo wich named this fire brigade ,isnt a front for clandestine operations in Syria,while using dr Aafias name....there is a sinister south african based ngo i ran across on facebook called ''ADL'' shia awareness group,wich is outright scrupulous,deceitful,dishonest and as sectarian as one can ever imagine..i have exposed it and challenged it on its disgusting aims,and deceit...hopefully they arent behind this project or even connected,or else,the results can be disastruous..
