Iran Blasts US for Failure of Campaign against Biological Weapons http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9003070325

Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asqar Soltaniyeh rapped the US for the failure of the efforts made by the international community to form a campaign against biological weapons and its breach of the Chemical Convention.Addressing a conference in Vienna on Friday, Soltaniyeh said that the important negotiations on fight against biological weapons ceased after 7 years because of the US opposition and noncooperation in Geneva, while Iran was among the most active countries during the talks.

He condemned the US breaches of Chemical Convention and having a huge arsenal of chemical weapons. The Iranian ambassador to the IAEA underlined continuation of cooperation of Iran with IAEA in the framework of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).Participants in the conference discussed a report presented by London Strategic Studies Center concerning Iran's abilities in different fields of high-tech.The conference was held with coordination of Vienna International Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapon and Vienna Diplomatic Academy.

Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh, as a special guest, attended the conference and at the beginning of his speech declared Iran's opposition to all mass-destruction weapons, either chemical, biological or nuclear. In his speech, Soltaniyeh reminded that during Saddam Hussein's imposed war against Iran, more than 100 thousand Iranians were injured by chemical weapons, but Iran, because of its obligations to Islamic beliefs, did not retaliate and never used chemical weapons against the Iraqis.

The ambassador also criticized the western countries and their study centers 'which usually write reports against Iran'.Reacting to a claim by one of the speakers of the conference about development of missile in Iran, the ambassador said that there is no international treaty to prevent missile activities, so all countries, including Iran, which has a bitter memory of missiles attacks during the imposed war, has the right to continue its activity in missile field to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
