A bloc of Uribista senators, acting under the "influence" of Uribe himself, proposed a major change to the Victims Law during the final debate in the Colombian Senate, newspaper Semana reported Tuesday. The actions of former President Alvaro Uribe and his supporters threaten to derail what would be a historic piece of legislation that aims to provide reparations to victims of violence in Colombia's prolonged internal armed conflict.
[WHY ARE URIBISTAS AGAINST IT?WELL FOR ONE BECAUSE ONE/THIRD OF THEIR BUDDIES ARE ALREADY IN PRISON FOR CRIMES AGAINST CIVILIANS MAINLY FOR TIES TO RIGHTWING PARAMILITARY DEATHSQUADS,AND ,MASSACRES COMMITTED WITH THEIR CONSENT AND ORDERS WHILE IN POWER..SO ITS OBVIOUS IF LAW PASSES THESE EX POLITICIANS AND EVEN THE ONES IN POWER STILL, WOULD BE VULNERABLE TO LAWSUITS BY VICTIMS FAMILIES...NOT JUST STATE ITSELF...
