A senior Iranian lawmaker announced on Monday that Tehran would soon launch an English-language news agency to review the latest human rights conditions in the West, specially in the UK and the US.Speaking to FNA, Vice-Chairman of the Parliament's Human Rights Committee Mohammad Karim Abedi said the Human Rights News Agency will exclusively deal with human rights issues in English language. "This news agency will demand revival of human rights in the US and England," the MP said, adding that the news agency would soon launch operation. "The Human Rights News Agency will shout human rights violations in Europe because unfortunately,
there is no such voice among the world media at present," he added. The lawmaker underlined that despite its wide-scale allegations, England is among the worst violators of human rights and the HR News Agency will scrutinize the issue.Iran has repeatedly lashed out at the western countries for using human rights issues as a tool and pretext for pressurizing independent states to conceal their own crimes and wrong deeds. Head of Iran's Supreme Council for Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani on Friday condemned the western countries' political attitude towards human rights,
saying that the West is using the issue as an instrument to impose pressure on independent states.Larijani criticized the West for politicizing human rights issues, insisting that human rights regulations must be protected against such manipulation."We believe human rights should be shielded from misuse and politicization, as well as the manipulation of human rights mechanism in imposing unilateral values on the world, "Larijani told reporters in a joint press conference with South African Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Ebrahim in Pretoria on Friday.
Also, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in November lambasted continued violation of human rights by certain European countries, and asked them to listen to the demands of their people. The Iranian Foreign Ministry in November issued a report on the violation of human rights by the US inside and outside its borders, and urged Washington to join the international conventions which prohibit such crimes. It was stressed in the Foreign Ministry report that the United States, as a self-proclaimed standard bearer of defense for the human rights in the world, has despite the international community and the UN demand,
and even despite President Barack Obama's promise, still not shut down the horrendous Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons. It was also stressed in the report that the United States has not yet joined the most important convention related to the economic, social and cultural rights that is among the most important human rights documents. The Children's Rights Committee of the United Nations, too, has announced that the United States has been one of the greatest producers and distributors of the world child pornography products, while it is now one of the only two countries in the world that have not yet joined the International Children's Rights Convention.
