Former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe will deliver the keynote address at a U.S. policy center conference on security strategies, to be held Wednesday, May 11 in Washington D.C.The discussion panel, held as part of the Bipartisan Policy Center's (BPC) National Security Initiative (NSI), will revolve around strategies to assist fragile states in effective and legitimate governance, based on a recently released BPC report titled "A Stitch in Time: Stabilizing Fragile States."During the conference, Uribe will describe his experience governing Colombia and discuss the policy changes and investments he initiated a decade ago to reverse the country's decline. The forum will examine how Colombia pulled itself back from the brink of state failure to become a thriving nation, according to an event press release.The former president was recognized last year as a "distinguished scholar in the practice of global leadership" by American University and by Georgetown University.
